HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-08-29 Board of Public Works Minutes August 29, 1955 The regular meeting of the Board opened at 7:90 P. M. Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Donahue, Zanni, Hopkins, Johnson and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Moved, seconded and voted to extend common sewer in following locations: Lowell Street, from Intervale Terrace to H1gYi Street, County Road, from Howard Street to Wescroft Road, Lothrop Road, from County Road at Wescroft Road to Summit Max Hole. Petition for acceptance of Martin (Private) Road, signed by several abutting property owners, received, accepted and placed on file for processing in usual manner. ' Mr. William Warren and Mr. Arthur Marchinko of Walnut Street appeared before Board for the purpose of discussing a drainage problem existing on their property. Mr. Warren stated that he would be agree- able to granting an easement through his property for an existing storm drain previously installed by Departmental forces. Mr. Marchinko stated that he also would grant adrain easement through his property, as a continuation of the Warren drain. Board moved, seconded and voted to prepare plan and hold hearings for these two drain easements, instruct- ed Superintendent to estimate costs of drainage installation. Decision of Board on this drain installation is as follows: to install drain, if funds are available, at completion of planned drainage construction program, Town funds to be expended for labor, Mr. Marchinko to pay for drain pipe and manhole. On recommendation of Superintendent, voted to purchase Anderson Crane and Catch Basin Cleaner, for bid price of $2, 242.13 provided Installation charge can be kept at a minimum figure. i i, On recommendation of Superintendent, three members of Hoard voted to permit H. H. McGuire & Co. to continue Armor-coating surface treatment on an additiohal list of streets as submitted by Superinten- dent at a cost to the Department bf .13 d Per square yard for road oil, stone cover, labor and equipment costa. A C A 2 re- questing letter from Charles Harrow, 1 6 Main Street re questing permission to raise elevation of manhole in Town easement on his property for the purpose of building a roadway for access to his property. Moved, seconded and voted to grant permission, provided work is done at Harrows' expense under Town supervision, and that Superintendent be notified prior to start of work. Board adjourned 10:30 P.
