HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-05-16 Board of Public Works Minutes S May 16, 1955 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. C Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Hopkins, Zanni, Donahue and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on extension of main trunk sewer on Lowell Street. Homer 293 Woburn St. Yes Yes Leo MacDonald of South Street appeared before Board to request permission to post a cash bond for construction of Breton Circle. 8 4 -2- After some discussion, Board voted to grant permission, subject to .approval of Town Counsel , Mr, Heber Crocker and ,his brother appeared before Bow d to request that a hearing date be set for a Board of Survey hearing on Linea Lane, Pio date set as yet pending opinion from Town Counsel of access roads to undeveloped land. Voted to register protest with State Dept, of Public Works regarding the proposed dead-ending of South Street and Grove Street due to Route 28 relocation construction, and instructed Superintendent to attend the hearing scheduled to be held Wednesday May 18, 1955 at 100 Nashua Street, Boston, and submit said protest. . Voted that, after preliminary hearing, Board does not wish to be interviewed by developers until advertised Board of purvey hearing is held. Received written request from Mrs. Neil C. Robinson, Chairman of Unitarian Church Country Fair Committee to allow closing of Summer Avenue from Woburn Street to Temple Street by Police Dept. , on Saturday May 21. Voted to grant request. Voted to approve baseball, softball and tennis schedules as recommended by Superintendent for 1955 play season. Examined and approved for Superintendents signature Registry of Deeds plans as follows: Plan of Lots on Charles Street owned by Peterson-- D.E. Perkins - Surveyors Plan of Lot Cor. Hartshorn and Essex Streets------ " Received request from Commander Packer, Reading Post 62 American -Legion to supply truck and driver at 6:00 A.M. Memorial Day to -assist in distribution of baskets to graves of war dead. Voted to grant request ; Voted pole locations on John Street, from Wakefield line Northerly. 'Received request for abatement of water bill from Mrs, -Hattie B: Ruggles, 52 Weston Road. Voted no abatement be made in this case unless 89 some defect is found in the water meter.
