HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-02-28 Board of Public Works Minutesr February 28, 1955 The regular meeting of the Board of Public' Works opened at 7:30 P. M. Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Hopkins, Johnson, Donahue, Zannl and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Hearing at 8:00 P. M. on acceptance of Birch Meadow Drive as a Public Town Way from Main Street to Oakland Road. No one appearing in opposition, it was voted to recommend accept- ance of Birch Meadow Drive at the March 1955 Annual Town Meeting. Mr. Ralph Lake of Lafayette Road appeared before Board to further discuss the possibility of a main extension in Lafayette Road. No action taken. Hearing at 8:30 P. Mr. John Sawyer , 8 Arlington Street, present and offered his land gratis at said locus to effect relocation. Voted to recommend relocation to the Town. Voted to send Mr. John Sawyer, 8 Arlington Street, a vote of thanks for his civic spirit in granting the land for said relocation. Voted to authorize Chairman Kilgore to sign letter addressed to j Board of Selectmen releasing Play Area 10 in Birch Meadow Playground i for school purposes. r7 Voted to recommend acceptance of following listed streets for Acceptance under the Betterment Act at the Annual March 1955 Town Meeting, and signed three sets of plans and Reports of Laying Out for same, copies of which become a part of these minutes: Glenmere Circle - from Winslow Road, Southerly and Westerly. Lothrop Road - from County Road near Howard Street, its entire length. Bolton Street - from Goodall-Sanford Road Easterly. Jere Road - from Lothrop Road South-westerly. Batchelder Road - from Haverhill Street 720 feet Westerly and Northerly. Signed three sets of plans and Reports of Laying Out for Birch Meadow Drive 'and the Relocation or Alteration of the Corner of Arling- ton and Lincoln Streets, copies of which become a part of these minutes.
