HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-02-14 Board of Public Works Minutes 13 IFebruary 14, 1955 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Donahue, Zanni and Superin- tendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meetings read and approved. Voted to send letter to Commissioner John A. Volpe, State Depart- ment of Public Works, requesting information as to contemplated drainage of the Ipswich River swamp-lands as defined in Chapter 56 of the Resolves of 1953 and House Document 2206 for the year 1953, the Board being in doubt as to what effect the drainage project might have on the municipal water supply in Hundred Acre Meadow. Temporarily adjourned at 8:00 P. M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 8:15 P. M. to meet as Board of Public Works. Hearing at 8:15 P. M. on drain easement from Jere Road Southerly. Present were the following listed abuttors, who recorded their feelings bn the drain easement as designated: Irene M. York 16 Lothrop Road Yes Leslie H. York 16 Lothrop Road Yes Edwin P. Crosby 7 Porter Ter. Non Com. Beverly Voted to take drain easement as shown on B.P.W. Plan A-10-152 Hearing at 8:30 P. M. on acceptance of Jere (Private) Road as a Public Town Way under the Betterment Act. Present were the following listed abuttors, who recorded their wishes regarding the acceptance as ,deslgnated: Henry 0. Swain, Jr. 5 Jere Road Yes ® Norman E. Jones 12 Jere Road Yes Edwin P. Crosby . 7 Porter Ter. Non.Com. Beverly Marion D. MacDonald 11 Jere Road Yes 14 Considered date for holding preliminary hearing on Timberneck Drive as petitioned for by Sargent Rulty Trust, Paul Carpenteri, Trustee. Voted to hold preliminary hearing on Monday, April 4, 1955• Read report from Superintendent advising that heating units should be installed in Willow Street Sewer Pumping Station to prevent damage by freezing and/of corrosion. Taken under advisement pending further investigation. Received application for extension of sanitary sewer in King Street from Frank Spurr to service new dwelling house. Petition accepted, placed on file for processing in usual manner. Report received from Superintendent that all abuttors on Bond Street drain project had signed releases, and that gravel fill of abandoned water course and cat-tail swamp was nearing completion. Report received from Superintendent of break in 6" water main on West Street near Woburn line. Voted to instruct Superintendent to submit weekly reports of progress of work accomplished by the various departments to the Board meetings. ' Cen�/dtreo� Yebecb to propose at annual March Town meeting that a special committee be appointed for evaluation of fluoridation of the municipal water supply, said committee to be composed of members of various Town Boards such as Public Works, Board of Health, School Committee, etc. and a Town Meeting Member from each precinct, said committee to report back at a subsequent Town Meeting.
