Zanni, Johnson, Donahue and Superintendent Putnam. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Temporarily adjourned at 8: 00 P. M. to meet as Board of Survey. j Reconvened at 8:30 P. M. as Board of Public Works. Public Hearing on Betterment Acceptance of Bolton (Private) Street at 8:30 P. M. Town Counsel Samuel H. Davis and 8hairman William Dolton of Birch Meadow Study Committee visited Board to discuss abandonment of a major portion of the Birch Meadow Playground area to the School Committee for school purposes. After some discussion, Board voted to retain 15 a 7J acre parcel of the playground designated as Play Area No. 11 on B.P.W. Plan A-17-53, on which are the present wading pool, soft- ball field, tennis courts, one skating area and the wooded knoll called the "Overlook" and release for school purposes the entire remainder of the Birch Meadow playground area designated as Play Area No. 10 on B.P.W. Plan A-17-53. Superintendent instructed to prepare letter to Board of Select- men releasing Play Area No. 10, in Conformance with Chapter 105, Acts of 1954. Building Inspector Harold Currell and Selectmen Latham, Calvin and Drew met with Board to discuss petition received from residents St. of Wakefleld,A Charles Street, Evergreen and Tamarack Roads protesting type of houses now under construction on Richards (Private) Road by Paul Carpenteri, Trustee of Sargent Realty Trust. List of eighteen special articles for annual March Town Meeting as submitted by Superintendent approved as follows: Water Department Lien Law South St. Land Damages Mineral St. Bridge Repairs Lincoln-Arlington Cor. Relocation Birch Meadow Drive Glenmere Circle Batt. Accept. Lothrop Road Bett. Accept. Jere Road Batt. Acceptance Batchelder Road Batt. Acceptance Bolton Street Bett. Acceptance Sewer Construction - E & D Parks & Playgrounds - E & D Field Houses - Recreation Committee Road Machinery Operating Account Chapter 90 Construction - West Street Chapter 90 Maintenance Resurfacing Streets Cleaning Town Parking Areas IVoted to secure releases from abuttors on Bond Street 1954 storm drain installation and fill abandoned brook and adjacent swampy area with gravel to permit water runoff over drain pipe berm, at an 16 estimated cost of $600.00. , Signed petition to Middlesex County Commissioners for County layout and relocation of Franklin Street. Received petition for extension of sanitary sewbr to service No. 16 Vine Street from Mrs. Albert A. Marschat. Accept petition, to be processed in usual manner. Instructed Superintendent to review telephone bills paid for by the Board andreport findings back to Board. Received letter from Town Counsel advising that Francis Butler should be paid two weeks salary in lieu of a vacation for work performed while employed by the Highway Department in 1954. Next meeting of Board scheduled to be held on Friday evening February 11, with the Finance Committee for the purpose of discussing the 1955 annual budget. Board adjourned at 10:45 P. M.
