The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Messers. Donahue, Johnson, Zanni, and Superintendent Putnam were
present . -
Secretary Donahue acted as Chairman Pro Tem.
Mr. Johnson acted as Secretary Pro Tem-.
Mr. Robert H. Peterson of 78 Charles Street, appeared before the Board
to protest certain items in sewer house connection bill for work done
on his property in June 1954. Taken under advisement.
Adjourned temporarily at 8:00 P.M. to act as Board of Survey.
Reconvened at 8:30 P.M. to act as Board of Public Works.
Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on Betterment. Acceptance of portion of
Glenmere (Private) Circle .

on acceptance of portion of Glenmere Circle as a public town way:

Voted to recommend acceptance of unaccepted portion of Glenmere
Circle as Public Town Way under the Betterment Act.
Voted not to recommend acceptance of Indiana (Private) Avenue as
a public town way.
Voted not to recommend acceptance of portion of Criterion (Private)
Street as a public town way.
Doctors Holbrook and Dinan, zepresenting the Reading Lions Club
as member of the Medical Committee of the Reading Lions Club, visited

Board to discuss fluoridation of the Town of Reading water supply
system. The Reading Lions Club are sponoring fluoridation, and the
visting doctors assured the Board that Reading doctors are in favor '
of adding fluorine to the public water supply as a means of combatting
tooth decay in children. More information is to be obtained, and another
meeting scheduled when. the full Board are present.
Received letter from A, Waldo Phinney requesting that an open ditch
situated Easterly of Oak Ridge Road be piped, he to grant easement and
supply pipe•
Voted to noti;y Mr. Phinney that, if he will grant easement, furnish
the npcessary drain pipe, and excavate the pipe trench, Town forces will
lay pipe and backfill over pipe, with excavated material only.
Board adjourned at 10;15 P.M.
