The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7 :30 P.S .
Present were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Hopkins, Johnson Zanni and
Assistant Superintendent Putnam.
Received letter from Mary E . 1dacKenzie, 42 Avon Street, comFlaining
of inadequ"s drainage in brook abutting her property. Assistant Supt . ,
to investigate.
Received letter from Housing and Home Finance Agency enclosing quest-
ionaire relative to Municipal Garage addition.
Received request from Mr. Frank Anderson, 164 South Street, for
permisdon to connect a sump pump drain to the South street storm drain
system. '
Voted permission, following usual procedure.
Received written requests from several citizens relative to removal
' of stumps from private property caused by Hurricanes Carol and Edna.
After careful consideration, it was -voted not to remove shunps from
private property, as regular Departmental work, delayed by the hurricanes,
had to be completed prior to cold weather.
Voted also to insert open letter to citizens in Chronicle advising
them of the Boards decision. li
Received complaint from Mrs. Elizabeth Porter, 49 Salem Street,

requesting relief from drainage off John Street . Taken under advisement,
pending survey. -
Received request for extension of time for completion of Richards
(Private) Road from Cedarville Trust Inc. , K. S. Keddy, Trustee.
Voted time extension to June 15, 1955.
' Received letter from Weather' Services, Inc. , offering a regular
Hurricane burning Service contract at $ 75.00 per year.
Voted to install fire hydrant in rear of Senior High School from

Hartshorn Street Extension, at request of School Committee.
.Considered overtime worked by salaried emploteas of the Public Works
Departments during Hurricane Qarol and Edna. Further consideration to '
be given at a future meeting.
Considered 0 . Manici & Sons claim for extra compensation on Bond. St.,
Drain Contract .
Voted to invite Torn Counsel to meet with Board to further discuss
contract.
Selectmen James E. Calvin appeared before Board to discuss insurance
coverage for hater Pumping Stations 2 and j and Willow street, Sewerage
Pumping Station. Voted following amounts :
Water Pumping "tation No . 2 -------------------y,25,000.00
If it It n 3 ------------------- 15,000 .00
Willow St. , Sewer Pumping Station ------------- 50,000.00
. General discussion of sidewalk and curbing costs ensued.
Board adjourned at 10:45 P.PI.
