The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Present, were Chairman Kilgore, Messrs, Donahue, Hopkins, Zanni,
Assistant Superintendent Putnam and Philip Welch.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Letter from a number of citizens on Colburn Road received,
requested relief from inadequate drainage in that section. Placed on
file, pending survey and report of existing conditions.
Application for Bituminous Concrete Sidewalk received from
Patrick J. and Dorothea V. Faucette, 49 Minot Street, Realing.
Approved, placed on file .
Application for Granite Curbing received from Ruth M. Baisley,
81 Scotland Road. Approved, placed on file.
Temporarily adjourned at 8:00 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Re-convened as Board of Public Works at 8:30 P.M.
Mr. Birchall of Realty Construction of New England, Inc.,developers,
of the Baese farm on West Street, interviewed the Board informally
regarding storm drainage and sanitary sewage in the aforesaid development.
Pole location hearing held regarding pole on Main Street, Northerly
of South Street. No abutter present, Mass. , Builders, Inc. , one of
abutters, recorded approval by letter.
Voted new location.
Pole locations on West and Walnut Streets approved.
Received letter from Francis C. Emmons, Jr., 3 North Street, Reading,
requesting information on several specific items.
Assistant Superintendent Putnam instructed to answer letter. '
Received letter and bill for engineering services from Whitman &
Howard relative to additional engineering services performed after

the A completion date of Bagarella Construction Company contract.
Discussed at some length, liquidated damages against Bagarella.
Postponed action to July 26, meeting.
Tentatively voted to service two newly constructed dwelling housed
on Main Street, Wakefield with water if formal request for same is made
by Wakefield Board of Public Works.
Received list of bids for 1954 Chapter 90 Construction from State
Department of Public Works, as follows:

1 Peabody, Mass. , who were the low' bidders.
Voted t o pay Anthony J. Pagano, Civil Engineer, Engineering
Division, $5,00 per week mileage for use of his personal car in
Departmental Work.
Signed Memorandum of Agreement with State Department of Public
Works covering 1954 Chapter 90 Maintenance program,
Considered and approved letter to Birch Meadow Development
Committee containing the Boards recommendation for the development of
Birch Meadow and the school area.
Board adjourned at 11:00 P.M.
