HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-05-17 Board of Public Works Minutes 1 May 17, 1954 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at III 7:30 P,M. Chairman Kilgore, Messrs. Donahue, Hopkins, Johnson, Zanni and Superintendent Welch were present. Considered note from Superintendent that plans, specifications and contracts for storm drains are finished. Voted to advertise for bids on May. 20, 1954 and take bids on June 7, 1954. Received letter from Selectmen in relation to complaints from Mr. & Mrs. Gray, 155 village Street about culvert under John Street and filling swamp land just south of their property. . Voted to inform. Selectmen that Board will check on culvert and that. Board does not feel it would be wise to fill swamp area.. 1 - At 8:00 P.M. received bids on approx. 1200 Tons of Bituminous Concrete for Oakland Road. . Received letter from property owners on Willard Road requesting a sewer extension to Willard Road from Birch Meadow. Placed on file pending surveys, plans and funds. Conferred with Peter Bagarella of Bagarella Construction Co. , to discuss the reasons why the project has run four months beyond -3- completion date. The discussion was lengthy and detailed. Mr. Bagarella Ifiled a three page letter listing 15 to 20 reasons why the project has been delayed and why liquidated damages should not be assessed .against him.
