HomeMy WebLinkAbout1954-01-11 Board of Public Works Minutes January 11, 1954. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7 :30 P.M. Chairman Walker, Messrs. Hopkins, Johnson, Kilgore and Superin- tendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved as amended. Hearing at 7:30 P.M. on Pole location in front of #219 Charles Street Pole 13/36S. N.E.T.S:.T. and Municipal Light Joint Pole. Folbwing persons object : Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Cummings - Opposed. Mr. Donald Broadbent - Opposed. Voted not to approve pole location. Considered list of storm drain projects submitted by Superin- tendent. These are in addition to those appearing in budget. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on the proposed acceptance as a public way of a section of John Carver Road. (Sta. llf30 to Sta. 11}413) (Refer to plan A-17-27) . Following persons present: Joseph N. Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on the proposed acceptance as a public way of a section of Overlook Road (Sta. 2480 to Sta. 4460) (Refer to plan A-17-28. Following persons present: John Brophy Overlook Road - Non Committal W.H.Gibson - " " - It it C.L.Crampe,Jr.- it n _ n it George Reid - Springvale Road _2_ Voted to lay acceptance on table at request of abutters pending receipt from them of a notice of their desires. Considered failure of L. & T. Construction Co., to sign contract for sewer pumping station. Voted to retain certified check filed with bid pending future decision. Considered letter from Whitman & Howard recommending that contract for sewer pumping station be awarded to Sawyer Associates as the next properly qualified bidder. The second bidder T. F. McCarthy Co., is, in their opinion not properly qualified for this type of contract. Voted to award contract for Sewer Pumping Station to Sawyer Associates for the bid price of 050,000. Read and considered in detail the proposed 1953 annual report. Voted to redraft report to include several amendments. ' Considered estimated cost of construction for Knollwood Road and the assessments, on abutters. Instructed Superintendent to redraft assessments by eliminating certain charges against abutters and placing charges against the cost to the Town. These charges amount to approx. twenty per cent of the total estimate. Voted t o reduce all assessments of corner lots by 25 per cent. Board adjourned at 10;1;5 P.M. Respectfully submitted; ec ary J
