EXECUTIVE SESSION
Ma 13 2002
CALL TO ORDER
At 7:03 p.m. Chair Twomey called the meeting to order. Present were School Committee
Members Cavicchi, Griset, Russo and Twomey. Mr. Dahl and Mr. McFadden arrived
during executive session. Also present were Superintendent Hamtunian, Town Manager
Hechenbleikner and Associate Superintendent Richards.
RTA Negotiations
Dr. Hamtunian reviewed the tentative agreement with the Committee. He distributed
information showing how Reading salaries ranked compared to the Middlesex
communities.
Ms. Cavicchi moved to accept the tentative a reement as outlined in the

The vote was 6-0.1. Ms. Cavicchi Mc Dahl Mr. Grise Mr. McFadden Mr.Russo

RECESS
Mr.Dahl moved to recess from executive session to regular session and return to
executive session after re alar session. Ms. Cavicchi seconded the motion.
The vote was 6.0 Ms. Cavicchi Mr. Dahl Mr. brise Mr. McFadden Mr. Russo
and Mr. Twomey
CALL BACK TO ORDER
At 10:50 p.m. Chair Twomey called the meeting back to order. All School Committee
members, Superintendent Hamtunian and Associate Superintendent Richards were
present.

Mr. Dahl moved to acce t the Su erintendent's recommendation to rant anet

0 Ms. Cavicchi Mr. Dahl Mr. Griset Mr. McFadden Mr. Russo and Mr. Twompl,.

RETIREMENT ISSUE
Dr. Harutunian discussed the early retirement incentive from the state that the town
would be eligible to participate in. He stated that one maintenance worker who was
planning to retire at the end of the summer has decided to delay until November if the
early retirement incentive is accepted by the town.
Mr. Dahl moved to accept the Superintendent's recommendation concernin the
retirement of Bob Kurchian and allow the Superintendent kee Mc Kurchian e
staff until November. Mr. McFadden seconded the motion. The vote was 6-0 Ms.
Cavicchi Mr. Dahl Mc Griset Mr. McFadden Mr. Russo and Mc Twome .
PENDING LITIGATION—DEP APPEAL
After discussion, it was the consensus of the Committee that the Superintendent set up a
meeting with the School Committee,Board of Selectmen, Conservation Committee,
Gadsby Hannah and the attorney for the Conservation Committee.
MINUTES
Ms. Cavicchi moved to approve the executive session minutes of February 25 2002,
Mr.Russo seconded the motion. The vote was 5-0-1 Ms. Cavicchi Mr. Dahl Mr.

Mr. Russo seconded the motion. The vote was 5-0-1 Ms. Cavicchi Mr. Dahl Mr.
Griset Mc Russo and Mr. Twome voted yes, Mr. McFadden abstained.
ADJOURN
At 11:55 .m. Ms. Cavicchi moved to ad'ourn. Mr. Griset seconded the motion.
