CALL TO ORDER
At 7:00 p.m. Vice Chair Dahl called the meeting to order at the Town Hall conference room.
Present were School Committee members Cavicchi,Dahl,McFadden,Russo and Twomey. Also
present was Superintendent Harutunian.
Ms. Cavicchi moved to request that the Board of Selectmen hold a special town meeting on
January 13 2003 and a special election on February 25' for the purpose of obtainine a
debt exclusion for the matters included in Article 4 and 5 of such special town meetiaL
Mr. Twomey seconded the motion. The vote was 4-1 Ms. Cavicchi, Mr. Dahl,Mr.
McFadden and Mr. Twomey voted yes. Mr. Russo voted no.
Mr. Russo stated that he was not in favor of a special election due to the disenfranchisement of
those who winter in Florida.
Mr. Twomey moved to have the School Committee support a January 13,2003 special town
meeting and the followine articles: Article 4 regardine the high school renovation and
addition Article 5 reeardine an additional $2.5 million for the new elementary school
project and Article 6 regarding the funding for a special election. Mr. McFadden seconded
the motion. Mr. Russo moved to amend the motion into three separate motions. Mr. Dahl
seconded the amendment to the motion. The vote was 14 on the amendment to the motion,
Ms. Cavicchi Mr. Dahl,Mr. McFadden and Mr.Twomey voted no, Mr. Russo voted yes.
The amendment to the motion did not carry. The vote on the original motion was 4-1 Ms.
Cavicchi Mr. Dahl Mr. McFadden and Mr. Twomey voted yes,Mr. Russo voted no.
Mr.Twomey moved to request that the Board of Selectmen place an article identical to
Article 6 the fundine clause for a special election,on the January 13, 2003 special town
meeting warrant, if the Board of Selectmen vote not to include Article 6 on the warrant.
Mr. McFadden seconded the motion. The vote was 4-1 Ms. Cavicchi, Mr. Dahl, Mr.
McFadden and Mr.Twomey voted yes,Mr.Russo voted no.
The Committeejoined the Board of Selectmen meeting.
