The Town Manager stated he had reviewed the idea of a product liability -.-. cliam for the faulty transformers at RMHS with Dr. Munnelly. They plan to investigate the possibilites. _ Ron Winslow was in attendance to review the details of Article 12 ($242,000) for a new roof at the Hawkes Field House The roof was done in the early 70's and is nearly 20 years old; is made - of asphalt tar and is suffering from many leaks and cracks and rotting. ., Because of the slopes, more deterioration has occured then anticipated, including clogged roof drains. Costs were outlined as follows: roof drain repair $28,000 patch $72,000 -- roof mambrane and - insultation $181. 000 (392 sq. ft. ) fees $25,000 (all costs = $5.22 per sq. ft. ) These repairs will increase the current R5 to R20; additionally the project is eligible for SBA funds for 608 of the cost over 10 years. The estimates on costs of membrane were received from various contractors. The committee asked about the increase in R level - Mr. Winslow explained that this is required for SBA approval. Member Hashell asked the square foot cost of Coolidge and Birch Meadow roofs. (Collidge ± $4.20 per sq ft; Birch Meadow ± $3 .70 per sq. ft. ) Member Hashell motion to remove Article 12 from the table. Motion to approve Article 12 in the amount of $242,000. Hashell amend to $217,000 to net out contingency febt 3-4-1 Burditt .amend $227,000 to net out only contingency fee but keep architects fee 5-2-1 Main motion approved for $227,000 7-0-1 v J,,,4 4..� .. __ '-- fir �r The committee then moved on to the balance of articles. Article 4 - housekeeping article approved 6-0-0 Article e - since no representation from the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School was in attendance to review this article the committee did not fell it was in a position to approve it. The article was voted against 0-6-0 Article 10 - the committee voted to approve this article in the amount of $242,000. The committee suggested that the Town Manger review with Town Counsel the possibility of any liability claim against the - manufacturer of the trartformers. Article 12 - the committee voted to table this article, pending information requested by Member Haskell on roof costs. (Member Harrison left at 10:15) Article 13 - for the installation of additional street lights was approved 5-0-0 Article 14 - for the disposal of a 1952 road roller, a xerox computer, an IBm PC and assorted old furniture was approved 5-0-0 - Article 20 - to rescind the April 28, 1986 Town Meeting vote to sell the Bear Hill property was not approved 0-5-0 Articles 22 ($500) , 24 ($500) , 25 ($500) and 26 ($500) for the acceptances of streets were approved 5-0-0 Article 23 ($10, 000) for street acceptance was approved 5-0-0 Article 28 - the Town Marf4er agreed to research the financial impact of this article Article 31 subject matter was approved 5-0-0 Meeting adjourned at 10: 35 p.m. i
