HomeMy WebLinkAbout1934-02-13 Finance Committee Minutes Meeting of the Finance Committee, February 13, 1934. i The meeting was called to order at 8.30 P.M. The Records o£ the j last meeting were read and approved. the revised budget of the Board of Assessors was presented and called for an appropriation of $500.00 for expenses in connection with tax appeal cases. ® The Board of Public Works, Chairman Putnam, Hartshorn, Fowls and Fairclough, appeared in relation to the budget for 1934 and other matters which the Board had under consideration. Mr. Putnam stated that the Board hould apply for State and County aid for paving Main Street from Haven Street to the railroad crossing. He stated that the sum of 910,000 had been set aside for State and County aid for re-building a portion of West Street under Chapter 90. He also mentioned the following projects as being under consideration provided labor could be furnished by the C.W.A. : Public Works Garage - John Street, the widening of Walnut Street, South Street, Charles Street and further work on Franklin Street. He also spoke of the desirability of survey of all accepted streets. Several other matters were also discussed. Following the hearing the committee took up the regular Public Works budget. No votes were taken. After some discussion of the West Street project it was the opinion of the Committee that this project be presented to the State Bpard of Public Works. It was the unanimous opinion that the Public- Works Department be advised to make plans which would furnish a maximum amount of labor after the C.W.A. had ceased to function. It was voted to meet on Sunday morning, February 18th at the High School for the annual inspection of the School buildings. Adjourned 10.45 P.M. Members present : Chm.
