The meeting was called to order at 7.50 o'clock by the Chairman. This
was a public meeting arranged to allow any citizens to appear and voice
their opinion regarding the Light Department store so-called. There -:vere
some twenty persons in attendance and the only person who voiced any object-
ions to the store was Mr. Herbert J. Wooldridge, representing Clapp & Leach,
inc. electrical contractors. He read a paper, copy of which was left
with the Chairman setting forth that in his opinion the operation of the
store co-oalled, was in direct competition with his firm and other concerns
furnishing electrical appliances and installation.
GG Mr. Wooldridge was abked several questions relative to taking over
the stock of the Light Department in 1922 and also questions pertaining
to the present conditions regarding sales and installation.
Mr. Paul Mich spoke at some length regarding the sales situation, but
admitted that he was not particularly familiar with the local conditions.
He felt however, that increasing the sales of appliances aided materially
in increasing the current load and the income of the plant.
The public meeting adjourned at 8.45 P.M.
Mr. Sias, Superintendent of the Light Department and Mr. Johnson,
Chairman of the Board, were asked to remain and the matter of the store
was more fully discussed and many interesting phases regarding the sale
` of electrical appliances by both municipally and privately owned plants
were brought out. Mr. Sias and Mr. Johnson both voiced the opinion that
the store was a necessary adjunct to the plant and Mr. Johnson stated that
the Board was unanimous in the opinion that the store should be kept in
operation. A full andfree discussion was had and several members of the
Committee questioned the Superintendent as to the matter under discussion.
Before adjournment the records of the last meeting were read and
