HomeMy WebLinkAbout1933-01-24 Finance Committee Minutes Meeting January 17, 1933. E The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock, but without a �r quorum. The records of the previous meeting were not read at this time. Mr. Fairchild reported for the sub-committee on Cemetery work, presenting the budget for 1933 which called for $8000 from the tax levy and $600 from Reserve for work in Laurel Hill Cemetery and $500 from the Tax,Lexyfor work in Forest Glen Cemetery. Mr. Devaney reported on the School Department budget for 1933, total $214,050.00. There was a general discussion of school matters. A quorum having assembled the records of the last meeting were read and approved. The sub-committee on the Municipal Light Department were further questioned and matters connected with this department were discussed at some length. Adjourned 10 P.M. Members present: Chm. Mount, Fairchild, Devaney, Killsm, Higgins, Haley, Scott, Knox, Connelly, Ellison, Canty. Clerk. Meeting January 24, 1933. The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock. The letters fr an the Board of Assessors were read relative to valuation for 1933; also new building and value of same. Mr. M. F. Charles, Town Clerk, presented his budget for 1933 stating that he was willing to take a salary reduction in conformity �g with the rest of the Town officers. Mr. Charles spoke regarding the 1r valuation of property and expressed the opinion that certain valuations would have to be reduced, especially business property, as tenants were unable to pay present rates and also a great deal of property was vacant at this time. Mr. Logan R. Dickie reported for the sub-committee on school matters and it was arranged that this committee meet on January 26th. A general discussion of the school budget followed. It was announced that the Finance Committee would meet at the High School building on Sunday, January 29th at 10 o'clock and from their make an inspection of the school buildings. Mr. Connelly reported for the sub-committee on the Board of Public 4W Works and took up the budget for 1933 in detail. Adjourned 10.45 P.M. Members present : Chm.
