HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-08-27 Board of Public Works Minutes 151 IReading, Mass. , August 27, 1951 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:00 P. M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Walker and Super- intendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received notice of Special Town Meeting to be held Monday, September 19, 1951. Voted to enter two Articles in the Warrant as follows: Transfer $8, 553.48 from Water Available Surplus to Water Department Expenses. Transfer $8, 519.18 from 1950 Bond Issue Salaries ' to 1950 Bond Issue Expenses. Received application for extension of Sewer in Lewis Street. Placed on file pending a hearing. Following Granolithic Sidewalk applications received, approved and placed on file: M. J. Havel 45 Wescroft Road C. E. Johnson 39 Wescroft Road Sidney Dunningham 10 Pilgrim Road W. J. Broussard 131 Salem Street ',i C. J. McKenny 93 Washington Street Following Granite Curbing applications received, approved and placed on file: W. J. Broussard 131 Salem Street ' C. J. McKenney 93 Washington Street Hearing at 8:00 P. M. on proposed pole location on South Street. I Received letter from Mrs. Lillious Pierce objecting to pole location. Taken under advisement. 152 Held conference with Mr. Arthur Aldrich and Mr. Charles Strout relative to conditions in the drainage ditch which runs through the yard of the Reading Lumber Company Southerly from Bolton Street. Board will investigate. Voted to request Telephone Company to send a representative to the next meeting of the Board to discuss installing an outdoor public tele- phone in the Square.
