HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951-07-09 Board of Public Works Minutes 142 Reading, Mass. , July 9, 1951 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:00 P.M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Harrison, Walker, and Superintendent Welch were present. Received letter from Whitman & Howard stating they have investigated the James S. Smith Co. , and are satisfied that they are reputable contractors. Voted to award contract for gravel well pump houses to James S. Smith Co. , the low bidder at the bid price of $12, 51+2.00: Voted to employ extra man at dump for the next few months. Voted to request State Dept. of Public Works to approve letting a contract for the 1951 Charles St. Chapter 90 project. ~ Voted to request Chronicle to print copy of picture of Reading Town Dump which appeared in the Sunday Globe, June 17, 1951. Superintendent made report of conference with Mr. Warren Killam relative to proposed drainage through private property . off Pearl Street to drain, so called, Bowder Meadow.
