Reading, Mass . , June 25, 1951
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Walker, and
Superintendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from State Dept. of Public Works relative
to easement taken for drainage purposes for Route 128 through
Quannapowitt Drain. layout. -
Referred to.Town Counsel for settlement.
Voted to abate the sum of $50.00 on the July, .1951, water
bill at 47 Sanborn Street. House is owned by Congregational Church
and occupied by Assistant Minister.
Received petition from several abuttors requesting that
sidewalk areas be loamed and seeded.

Received letter. from Selectmen requesting Board to prepare ,
plans and estimate for possible parking area off Haven Street.
Mr. Walter Fowler conferred with Board relative to proposed
parking area off Haven Street.
Received bids at 7:30 P.M. for two pump houses for newly
constructed gravel packed wells.

Hearing at 8:30 P.M. on proposed installation of Bituminous
Concrete Sidewalks on the north side of Haven St. from Chute Street
to Linden Street.

Voted to install Bituminous Concrete Sidewalks on the north
side of Haven St. from Chute St. to Linden St.
Signed "Order of Assessment" for the above-mentioned sidewalk.
Considered lease for Ordway Pit.
Voted to cancel lease for Ordway Pit as of December 31, 1951,
and to so notify owners.

Held conference with Mr. George Taber of 1000 Main St. and
his attorney Mr. J. Warren Killam relative to installation of
drainage facilities off Pearl St. between No. 223 and No. 227 to
furnish better drainage for the so-called Bowder Meadow area. Supt.
to confer with Mr. Taber and Mr. Killam at the location.
Held conference with Foreman Chester Putnam and Foreman
Ernest Watson relative to possible change in classification for
supervisory employees.
Signed Order of Taking for storm drain easement through
private lands from Lowell St. to Hartshorn St.
Signed Order of Taking for Storm Drain Easement through
private lands of Mew, Sullivan, and Brown abutting Meadow Brook
Lane.
Voted to hold next two. meetings of Board on Monday, July
9, 1951, and Monday, July 16, 1951.
