CIt was voted to instruct the clerk to append the names of all members of the Finance Committee to the report. Adjourned 11.30 P.M. Members present: Chm. Mount, Burgess, Briggs, H t, Connelly, Devaney, Ellison, Haley, Killam, Knox, Scott. r . Annual Meeting, April 13, 1931. The meeting was called to order at 7.45 P.M. by the Town Accountant. Mr. Robert B. Mount was nominated for Chairman and the clerk was instruct ed to cast 1 ballot for Robert B . 10aunt for Chairman for the ensuing year. The Chairman stated his plans to continue the policy of sub-committees to consider the needs of the various departments. The sub-committee on the Assessing Department was requested to attend a meeting being held by the Planning Board. It was suggested that the sub- committees keep in touch as far as p®ssible with the various town departments during the year. Adjourne3 8.30 o'clock. Members present : Chm. Mount, Burgess, Briggs, Connelly, Ellison, Canty, Haley, Killim, Knox, Scott. _(416 Meeting May 22, 1931.- The meeting was called to order at 8 o' clock by the Chairman. Mr. t;;artin B. Hartshorn, Chairman, Board of Public Works appeared and requested a transfer of 'w�1,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to the Snow & Ice ® Account. 1 The Board of Selectmep appeared and Chkirman Morrison requested a trans- fer of w88.68 to balance overdraft in Election Expenses; also a transfer from the Reserve Fund of jp900.00 to Miscellaneous Account, this latter amount being necessary on account of unforeseen expenses connected with the settlement of claims and also in connection with the suit of S. Pfau vs. the Town of Reading for an abatement of taxes. �Tr It was voted that the following mounts be transferred from the Reserve Fund: To election Expense Account w88.68 To Snow & Ice Account 700.00 To I4lscellaneous Fxp=nse Account 900.00 r Adjourned: 9.50 o' clock. Meeting August 5, 1931. he meeting was called to order at 7.40 P.M. by the Chairman. he Board of Public Welfare represented by Mrs. Myrtle Zeman, presented the .need of additional funds for the Welfare Department and asked for $8000.0( for Aid, Board & Care; $800.00 for Temporary Aid; $800.00 Mothers' Aid. Selectmen Morrison Sweetser and Leman appeared for additional amount of $3,000.00 for Soldiers' Relief. Also called attention to probable need of more money for Fire Alarm, possibly $250 or $300. The Board of Public Works, Merrill, Fairelough, Putnam, Supt. Birnie, presented Article 9, Birch Meadow Playground, and asked for an appropriation of $1,000.00, $750 of this mount to be expended for filling, and the balance for labor and some further development of playground. The following votes were passed: Article 2. recamnend $8,000.00 Aid, Board & Care 3. " 3,000.00 Boldiers' Relief n 5 n 6 " 100.00 n 7 n n B n Transfer from Reserve Fund for Mothers' Aid $800.00 It Temporary Aid 800.00 it Election Exp. 50.00 Under Article 9 Mr. Burgess moved that $1,000.00 be recommended. Mr., Haley opposed on the ground that no definite plan was presented. Mr. Conne113 concurred. Voted not to recommend. Article 10. voted to recommend $200.00 n 11 n n n 28.00 Adjourned 10 P.M.
