The meeting was called to order at 8 P.M. .
After general discussion of various matters connected with the aupropria.
tions for 1931 the following were voted&
Article 42 Bureau of Agriculture X75.00
Article 46 Child 7,'elfare 400.00
Article 45 Rent Post 62, A.L. 1000.00
Article 44 Town Forest 500.00
It was voted to recommend x6,156.00 for assessor's-salaries, clerical and
expenses and :"500 for Block System Survey.
For Public Library Maintenance "3,200.00 .
Salaries 4 800.00
" Board of Public '.`forks Salaries and Office �:xpenses '%,000.00
On the Highway Maintenance, $44,000.00 was recommended, the Board of Public
Works stating that about .,"*x4,000 of this amount would be used for the purchase
of a gasoline roller, estimating an allowance of about f;1,200 for the old
Steam-roller. It was explained that this allowance wand revert to the
Treasury.
Under Article 24 it was voted to recommend ;;4,000.00 appropriation.
The following recommendations were also made :
Snow & Ice Removal ,x5,000.00
- Maintenance Storm Drains 5,000.00
Highway Construction 8,000.00
Care of Dumps 600.00
Drainage System Construction (Art.23) 14,000.00
Park Department 6,000.00, which amount
included purchase of bleachers for the ball field at an estimated cost of
$1,200.00.
Under Article 26 it was voted to recommend '11,000.00, it being the sense
of the meeting that this amount would suffice for 1931, in the absence of
more definite information.
Under Article 21 it was voted to recommend 4,34,000.00 financed by issue
of bonds.
Under Article 22 it was voted to recommend y�16,000.00 finknced By i9sue
8f bonds.
Under Article 27 it was voted to. reccvmmend "380.00
The following votes were also passed:

17 voted to recommend 15,000.00 for the purpose set forth
and that the School Committee co-operate with the Board of Public ":orks in
carrying out the work contemplated under this article.
Article 19-20 voted Do not recommend.
Article 16 voted to recommend ;1250.00

Voted "Do not recommend" on the following articles : 32-33-34-35-36,
Under Article 31 voted to refer subject matter to Municipal Light 5oard.
Under article 25 voted to recommend.

It was voted to recommend that y25,000 be appropriated from Excess and
Deficiency Account and $272000 from the tax levy for the payment of debt
maturing in 1931.
Voted to recommend appropriation of {;26,850 for interest on funded debt and
temporary loans.
Voted to recommend „4,100.00 for insurance .
It was voted to instruct the clerk to append the names of all members
of the Finance Committee to the report.

Annual Meeting, April 13, 1931.
The meeting was called to order at 7.45 P.M. by the Town Accountant.
Mr. Robert B. Mount was nominated for Chairman and the clerk was instruct
ed to cast 1 ballot for Robert B . Mount for Chairman for the ensuing year.
The Chairman stated his plans to continue the policy of sub-committees
to consider the needs of the various departments.
The sub-committee on the Assessing Department was requested to attend a
meeting being held by the Planning Board. It was suggested that the sub-
committees keep in touch as far as p®asible with the various town departments
{ ® during the year.

Meeting May 22, 1931.
The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock by the Chairman.
Tyr . ".,'artin B. Hartshorn, Chairman, Board of Public Works appeared and
requested a transfer of Q1,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to the Snow & Iee
Account.
`"''he Board of Selectmen appeared and Chairman Morrison requested a trans-
fer of488.68 to balance overdraft in Election Expenses; also a transfer
from the Reserve Fund of �j900.00 to iiiseellaneous Accounts this latter
amount being necessary onaccount of unforeseen expenses connected with the
settlement of claims and also in connection with the suit of S. Pfau vs.
the Town of Reading for an abatement of taxes.
It was voted that the following amounts be transferred from the Reserve
Fund:
To election Expense Account v?88.66
To Snow & Ice Account 700.00
To Miscellaneous Expense Account 900.00
