Members Present: Chm. Mount, Burgess, Bryant, Connelly, Devaney, Fairchild, Gordon, Haley, Killam, Knox, Moyer, Scott, Briggs. ler c. Meeting February 26, 1930. The meeting was called to order at 8 o' clock. The Board of Selectmen appeared on Article 11 calling for an appropria- tion of $x50,000 to build a Police Station and town lock-up. The Selectmen recommended salary increase for members of the Fire Dept. to make the salary rating the same as the Police Dept. It was voted not to recommend an appropriation of $100 asked for by the Board of Health for food inspection. It was voged to recommend an appropriation of 4400 for Child Welfare work, Article 32. It was voted to recommend appropriation of $200 for the Middlesex Bureau of Agriculture, Article 33. Article 37 was then taken up. This article called for an appropriation for the further development of storm water drainage and the following appeared in regard to specific drainage extension : J. Winthrop Sias regarding drain on his property line from John Street easterly, Mr. H. Raymond Johnson regarding drainage on Woodward Ave., vale Rd., and Hancock Street; Mr. Lyons, Mr. Ed- ward F. Parker, Mr. Barclay also appeared regarding drainage in the same vicinity; Mr. W. Homer Morrison for drainage on Pleasant Street; Mr. Enos and Mr. Rose regarding drainage from Hancock St. northeasterly. Mr. HRaymond Johnson appeared in favor of Article 35 calling for an appropriation of $500 for Athletic Wield Survey in answer to several question: put to him by various members of the Committee. 4W Chm. Carl M. Spencer of the School Committee appeared again at the re- quest of the Finance Committee for further discussion of the School Budget. Article 11 was taken. up and after a discussion it was voted to recommend the building of a Police Stat&on at a cost not exceeding $50,000 and that $5,000 be raised from the tax levy and the balance '"459000 by issue of bonds, payable $5,000 yearly for 9 years, 1931 to 1939 inclusive. The vote was 11 - yes, 3 - No, 1 not voting. Article 14 was next considered and it was voted to recommend the exten- sion of the water system by the erection of another standpipe and that $35,00( be raised and appropriated and that bonds be issued as follows : Payable $3000 yearly for 5 ,years and x2000 yearly for the following 10 years so that the whole loan shall be paid within 15 years, i.e. 1931 to 1945 inclusive. / ._ February 26, 1930, Cont. It was voted to make all voted unanimous. It was voted to instruct the clerk to affix the names of the entire Committee to the report on the annual warrant for 1930. Adjourned 10.30 P.M. A meeting of the r'inance Committee was held and as required by Town- By-Laws, Robert B. Mount was chosen Chairman. Adjourned: Members present : Chm. Mount, Burgess, Bryant, Connelly, Ellison, Fairchild, Grimes, Killan, Knox, Scott, Briggs, Meeting September 29, 1930. The meeting was called to order at eight o'clock. The Chairman read a letter from Reading Post #62 American Legion re- lative to entOrLaining Victory Post Bugle and Drum Corps, Washington, D.C . Louis Davis presented the matter and asked for an appropriation from the Reserve Fund of $300. Capt. Hugh L. Eames, Supt. Fire Alarm appeared asking for a transfer of $745 to cargy on, reconstruction work made necessary by the renewal of poles of the N .K.T. & T. Co. on which the fire alarm wires are placed. The Board of Selectmen, Trevor, Morrison, Sweetser, appeared for a transfer of $300 Tree Warden account to finance tree work for the remainder of the year. Also requested necessary transfer .for Soldiers' Relief account. On motion of Mr. Killam it was voted that $300 be appropriated from the Reserve Fund to. be expended under the direction of Post x(62 American Legion as provided by Chapter 67 of the Acts of 1930. On motion of Mr. Burgess, it was voted that $745 be transferred from the Reserve Fund to the Fire Alarm account. On motion of Mr. Killam it was voted that $300 be transferred to Tree Warden Account. On motion of Mr. Bryant it was voted that $1000 be transferred to Soldierst Relief account.
