Reading, Mass . , April 23, 1951
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ,
7:00 P.M.
Chairman Hopkins, Messrs . Donahue, Calvin, Harrison, Walker
and Superintendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from Catherine Ahearn, 96 Howard Street, request-
ing abatement on April, 1951, water bill for green house.
Voted not to grant abatement as requested.
Received letter from Warren Richards , 245 Woburn Street request-
ing that the curb be removed in front of the driveway to his new house
and the apron repaired thereafter.
Voted not to grant request as it is contrary to regulation -
which states that the Department will not perform any work on drive- ,
way entrances for new homes.
Received letter from Harriet Baker, 32 Summer Avenue request-
ing information relative to proposed storm drain in Prospect Street
opposite her property.
Voted to instruct Superintendent to write Miss Baker informing
her that the Board intends to install this drain in 1951 and suggest
that she install curb in front of her property.
Received following bids for the sale of two horizontal boilers
at the Mill Street Pumping Station:
Hooley & Merchant $152.00
S. Casper & Sons $127.00
Savransky Bros. $110.00
Max Horovitz Co. $100.00
Voted to accept the bid of Hooley & Merchant.
Received petition for sewer extension in Summer Avenue
between Pennsylvania Avenue and ;x+35 Summer Avenue.

' Hearing at 7:45 P.M. on proposed drain easement off Meadow
Brook Lane through lands of Brown, Sullivan and Mew.

Voted to make taking as above described.
Voted to request an opinion from the Town Counsel relative
to liability of Town for accidents in open ditches.

pumps, two motors , two buildings, two gasoline storage tanks, electric
wiring and panel board and appurtenances.
