Reading, Mass. , March 26, 1951
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P .M.
Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Donahue, Calvin, Harrison, Walker,
and Superintendent Welch were present.
Mr. Hopkins left at 7:35 to attend Town Meeting.
Mr. Walker acted as chairman.
Signed commitment sheet to Assessors for House Connection
charges , a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes
a part of these records.
Received letter from Mr. R. I. Parker, 22 Winslow Road,
requesting permission to connect a drain from his cellar to the
storm drain in Winslow Road.
Permission granted subject to usual provisions.
Considered possible necessity of employing laborers under
21 years of age this coming season.
Voted to pay the following rates for laborers under 21 years
of age:
18 years to 20 years $1.05 per hour
Under 18 years $0.90 per hour
Following Bituminous Concrete Sidewalk Applications received,
approved, and placed on file: -
Mel Johnson 2 to 18 Haven Street
Voted permission to High School Baseball Team to use Washington
Street Park ballfield for 1951 High School Schedule.
Received letter from Arthur Heinlein, 55 Scotland Road,
recuesting permission to connect a drain from his cellar to the
storm drain in Scotland Road.
Permission granted subject to the usual provisions.

Received petition from several abuttors on Evergreen Road
requesting that this road be accepted as a public way. '
Placed on file.
Received petition from several abuttors on Winter Street,
Orange Street, Belmont Stand, Salem Street, requesting that the
sewer be extended to service their properties.
Placed on file.
Board adjourned at 8:30 P.M.

by Chapter 63 of the Acta of 1933, hereby certify that the list herewith

ments, together with the location of the lana benefited by the improvement
and the nature and amount of such betterment assessment.
And such list is certified to you for the purpose of committing
the same to the Tax Collector, as provided by law.
