HomeMy WebLinkAbout1950-10-23 Board of Public Works Minutes 70 Reading, Mass. , October 23, 1950 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Hopkins, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Hopkins acted as chairman. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Discussed taking land from Silas H. Carroll off Grove Street for installation of gravel packed well. Voted to make an agreement with Mr. Carroll for the purchase of approximately five (5) acres of land at a price of $500.00 per acre and to ask Town Counsel to prepare agreement for purchase. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed Sewer Extension in Summer Ave. from a point opposite No. 245 Summer Ave. to a point opposite , No. 235 Summer Ave. Following persons present: Everett Bromley - 235 Summer Ave. - In favor Voted to extend Sewer as described above. Temporarily adjourned at 8:30 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9:00 P .M. Following Granite Curb applications received, approved and placed on file: Otis Simms 14 Nichols Road Ethel Perry 75 Locust Street Received letter from Town Counsel stating that the acquisi- tion of land from Silas H. Carroll for well purposes must be sub- , mitted to the Town Meeting for approval. Received letter from Town Counsel relative to financing future cost of connection with MDC System. 71 Voted following pole locations: Hillside Rd. - J.O. Pole 134/1 - Moved 47 ft. westerly Considered application for connection with MDC System to be filed with MDC. Received list of classifications and wage rates from State Dept. of Labor and Industries for use on construction of new wells and standpipe. Voted to hold next meeting of Board on November 6, 1950.
