Donahue, Hopkins, Harrison, and Assistant to Superintendent J. T. Putnam were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Putnam Assistant to Superintendent Mr. Arthur Ferris of 83 Appleton Street, Arlington, Mass. , and Mr. Thomas Ferris appeared before Board protesting charge of $250.00 for water main extension on Scotland Road. Matter taken under consideration. Mr. George E. MacIntosh, 324 Main Street, representing Viola M. Howard, appeared before Board to submit a preliminary plan or layout of a proposed street and lots off South St, westerly of 55 Walnut Street. On motion of Mr. Donahue, it was voted: "That all surplus material excavated from public works operations be deposited at John Street Dump, until such tiiAe as the Board of Public Works shall order it to be deposited elsewhere." - Letter received from Board of Selectmen designating Monday evening, September 11, 1950, as the date for the Special Town Meeting, to be held at Junior High School Auditorium. Letter received from Board of Selectmen advising that all articles for the September 11, 1950, Special Town Meeting Warrant must be in the Office of the Board of Selectmen not later than Friday, August 25, at 5:00 P.M. Letter received from Board of Selectmen expressing their gratitude for the oiling operations at the Tree and Moth Department Garage on John Street. Four letters received from Chief Hugh L. Eames, Fire Dept. A. Notification that Fire Dept. is prepared to pump water, in emergency, from new gravel well into a distribution system hydrant, Public Works to reimburse fireman operating pumps . Voted to accept this offer. B. Request that Chief of Fire Department henceforth approve new hydrant locations. Taken under consideration by Board. C. Proposed installation of new 6" water main across Main St. to the new "Larson's Lane" prior to construction of New Route 128. Taken under consideration by Board. D. Request to install Fire Alarm conduits across Woburn Street at Temple Street to new Parochial School. Taken under consideration by Board. ,Received letter from Board of Selectmen enclosing list of 56 Insurance Coverages on all departments connected with theBoardof Public Works. Copies of information therein contained to be furnished , each Board member. Verbal telephoned request from Superintendent Wall, City of Woburn, Public Works Department, requesting permission under certain conditions to open cross connection between Woburn and Reading water distribution systems, to permit Lane Construction Co. , to cut Washington Street, Woburn water main without by-passing same during Route 128 construction, refused by Board. Letter received from George M. Dimond, Jr. , and Thomas S. Widell of Arbor Way requesting that Arbor Way be put on the snow-plow list. Taken under advisement. Letter received from Town Counsel regarding Proposed Rules and Regulations for Board of Survey on acceptance of Rights-of-Way. , Held for further consideration. Received petition from John F. Killilea, D.M.D. , 10 Longtiew Road, et al, renuesting extension of sanitary sewerage on Prospect Street, Longview Road and Laneton Way. Voted to make survey of possible extension. Letter received from Kenneth G. Hulsman, Civil Engineer, 284 Woburn Street, Reading re,uesting that the street line on a portion of Franklin Street be established by the Board of Public Works. Matter taken under advisement. Voted that field notes of Town surveys made by private surveyors when employed by the Town on street layouts be filed with the Board. Following Petition for Joint Pole Relocations approved: Wescroft Road - Relocate Pole 224/4 southwesterly 4 feet Washington St.- 1 pole - 140 feet southeasterly from Private Way - Relocate pole 97/31 southeasterly 12 feet. Minot St. - 1 pole - opposite Center Avenue - relocate pole 58/9 southeasterly 29 feet Following Petition for Joint Locations - Existing Poles approved: Haverhill St. - 1pole - on westerly side of street 214 feet northerly from Bay State Road Following Petition for Joint Pole Locations (Formerly Private Ways) approved: Barrows Road - 2 poles - northeasterly from Lowell St. 183/5 - 183/6 Dustin Road - 5 poles - southwesterly from Lowell St. 120/1 - 5 inclusive Fielding Road - 3 poles - southwesterly from Lowell St. 219/1-3 inclusive John Carver Rd. 1 pole - at northwesterly corner of Woodland St. - 201/13 58 Willard Road - 3 poles - between Pearl Street and Main Street - 217/1-3 inclusive Plymouth Road - 8 poles - southwesterly from Lowell St.- 212/108 inclusive.
