Reading, Mass. , June 5; 1950
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Walker and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Hearing at 7:45 P.M. on proposed sewer in High Street from
Dudley St. to Middlesex Avenue.
Following persons present:
Herbert Woolridge Not in favor
William Curran In favor
Ethelyn Tibbetts Not in favor
Robert Hailey Not in favor
No action taken on this proposal.
Voted to prepare a plan and hold a hearing for a sewer exten-
sion in Middlesex Avenue from Grand Street to Middlesex Avenue.
Hearing at 7: 50 P.M. on proposed pole location on the east
side of Grove Street seventy-six feet north of Lowell St.
No one present.
Voted pole location as desdribed above.
Bids received at 8:00 P .M. on 10 to 14 ton roller.

Letter received from Mary Tessier, 57 County Road commending
employees for work done at her property..
Voted to post copy of letter on Garage Bulletin Board.
Considered request of Peter Orchanian for abatement on water
bill at 239 Haven Street.
Laid on table pending receipt of further information.
Bids received at 8:30 P.M. on five ton truck.
Following bids received:
Sterling Motors Corp. - Sterling Model RA 1502 - $6,341.15
Charles N. Wood - Walters Model F2MS - $7,460.00
Received letter from Selectmen relative to meeting with Insurance
Committee on June 12, 1950 at 9:00 P.M.
Considered bids received on May 22, 1950 for one two-ton truck.
Laid on table until next meeting.
Received letter from George P. Forbes of Summer Ave. , Reading,
requesting permission to have his house connected to the Wakefield
water system. The Wakefield water main passes, in front of his property
while it would be necessary to extend about 1,000 feet of water main
to make a connection with the Reading system.
Voted to approve the connection to the Wakefield system and
to issue formal notice to the Wakefield Water Department.
Received letter from Miss Katherine Fallon extending her
gratitude and that of her mother for the many expressions of
sympathy received upon the death of her father Thomas Fallon.
Voted to post '.letter on Garage Bulletin Board.
Received letter from Mrs. C. E. Wilkinson favoring the

retention of the "Reading" sign on the Common.
Received letter from George A. White, 72 Hopkins St. , the '
present caretaker at the Dump, recuesting that he be retired because
of disabilities under the provisions of Chapter 32, Sect. 56 of the
General Laws.
Voted to approve request and submit same to Selectmen for
their decision.
Met with Finance Committee and discussed .two propositions
as follows:
A. Added caretaker at Dump..
B. Retaining 1940 Dodge Chassis and cab and mounting
mechanical sander thereon.
