The meeting was called to order at 8.15 P.M.
The Board of 4ssessors having been requested to appear, were present as
follows: Chairman Horrocks, Clark and Richardson. Mr. Horrocks spoke of
the need of expending ;500.00 for the Block System Survey covering terri-
tory between Main Street and Grove Street and Chapman Park to Grove Street.
He also presented the matter Cf increased salaries for clerks in the
Assessors office.
Mr. prank Strout appeared at the invitation of the Committee on the
matter of the stand pipe, called for in the budget of the ^'ater Department,
and on other natters connected with the water system. He stated that in-
creased storage capacity was necessary, especially for better fire pro-
tection. He further stated in its opinion there was little to be feared
on account of lack of supply, the matter of storage being most important.
Mr.. Horrocks having made certain staternnts regarding clerical
salaries not borne out br the facts, it was suggested that the Board be
asked to appear at the meeting February 11th.
The hour beirg late, them was vsry little discussion of the matters
before the Committee and the meeting adjourned at 10.30 P.M. '

• A public meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 8.00 P.M.
Mr. Roland Perry was heard on an Article for County Aid to ;,gr1^'zlture
and asked for appropriation of .',' 100.00.
"r. J. "'. Sias appeared for an article calling for a drain from the
,junction of ?alem and ?Tarn3cn Streets to a brood running southerly beyond
property of Charles Hapgood. 'Phe Chairman suggested that the article be
taken to the Hoard of Public T^arks for report later.
Sergt. 5iack ar.`.. Patrolman Wall appeared for the article asking for
increased pav for the Police Department. Salaries asked for as follows :

The Board of Public 7"Orks again appeared and various matters connected
with the departments under its chc.,ge were discussed, more especially
the highways, storm drains, Park Department, and side walks and curbing.
Regarding the matter of a new stand pipe Mr. Haley suggested ttat. the
matter be gone into more thoroughly.
The matter of town dumps was spoken of and the Rce._•i stated that
If the care of the dumps ,was given to the Board of Public 7orks, it would
be necessary to purchase a bull-dozer for the-work. It gas requested that
the cost of such apparatus be ascertained and report later.
The Board of Assessors appeared and requested that the amount, of their
appropriation for clerical hire be reduced from : 3120 to 02720 to allow an
increase of $5.00 per week for each clerk.
The Municipal Light Board appoared, Chairman H. R. Johnson with Supt.
Sias . The only item in the budget of this Department affecting the tax
levy was the appropriation for street lighting which was x;13,000 a decrease
of 5500 over last vearvs appropriation.
