HomeMy WebLinkAbout1925-09-24 Finance Committee Minutes 6 Meeting, September 14, 1925. The meeting was called to order by Chairman at 8:05 P.M. In the absence of the clerk, Miss Helen A. Brown wasappointed clerk protem. Meeting was called to consider Articles in the warrant for Town meeting 1925. Fred L. Springford, Ch. of the Selectmen,presented Article 4 relative to special counsel and recommended that $2500 be appro- priated from the $20000 raised by purchase of land. For Municipal Light Board, Ch, Long, Mr. Evans and Superin- tnedent Sias were present regarding Article 2 and advanced the same reason for recommending favorable action under this Article, as were given previously. It was voted to recommend Article 2. It was voted to recom- mend under Article 4 as was recommendedby Mr. Springford under Article 5. It was voted to recommend that the Town accept the legacy from the late Gilman L. Parker of $5000, to be known as the Read- GO ing High School Scholarship Fund and that the Board of Selectman and the Town Treasurer act as trustees of said fund. A similar vote was passes recommending Article 6, regarding the legacy for a hospital in the Town of Reading. Members present at this meeting: Chairman,George H. Clough, Elias B. Currell, John L. Devaney, Logan R. Dickie, James W. Fair- child, Wm. A. Haley, Howard P. Knox, Otis B. Ruggles, and Frederick D. Sperry. It was voted that the names of the committee by anpended for the report.
