HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-02-05 Finance Committee Minutes i Meeting Jan.29,1924 Meeting was called to order at 8.05 o 'clock. The School Committe was heard on the budget of 1924.Chairman Walter S. Parker, Mr Quimby and Supt.of Schobls Safford were present.. The entire evening was given to heaping the committee and a general discussion of the various items in the school budget but no votes were taken. t The meeting adjourned at 10 O'clocj. Members present,Ch.Shepardson,Carleton, Connelly,Currell,Fairchild, Haley,Parker, Sperry,Sweetser,Ellison,Bent. L. G. Bent,Sec 'y. 40 $eeting,Feb.5,1924 Meeting was called to order at 8.15 o'clock. Chairman F.L.Spring£ord,of the Selectmen,presented the regular appropriations for General Government ,etc. The Municipal Light Board were then heard o4 the estimates of that department for the coming year. They presented a statement showing income and expense for the past year and the figures for 1924. Supt.Sias announced that the board had decided to reduce the rate on house lighting one cent making the charge ten cents per killawatt hour. The appropriation ® asked for street lighting was $12,000.00 as against $$14,800.00 last year. Members of the board pre s ent,Ivir.Baker,19r.Evans and Supt.Sias. After a general discussion of the lighting and power matter the board was dismissed. Town C1erk,19.F.Charles was heard on his salary and expenses and also on the salaries of the Registrars. The Cairman then took up the various matters voted upon at the meeting of Jan.22nd. It was voted that the vote of Jan.22nd.relative to the purchase of land for a new cemetery.be reconsidered.It was voted that the Chairman appoint a committee to investigate the matter and report at a later meeting.Chairman appointed tlessrs. Currell, Sperry and Fairchild. It was moved by Mr.Devaney that the matter of increased pay for the Police and Fire Departments be reconsidered.The motion was not voted. On motion of Tr.Devaney it was voted that the Selectmen be invited to again appear before the committee. Pdr.Devaney wished to be recorded as dissenting from the vote of Jan.22,on Police and Fire Department salaries and gave notice of his intention of present- ing a minority report.
