Meeting was called to order at 8.30 o 'clock a quorum having
arrived.The first matter taken under consideration was the the pur-
shase of the land prop..osed for a new cemetery and it was voted to
recommend that this tract of land be purchased. It was also voted to
recommend the purchase of the parcel of land adjoining the Laurel Hill
Cemetery from the Clapp estate. It was voted to recommend the appro-
priation of 44700.00 for Cemetery Maintenance and 43600.00 for annual
`, care of lots and graves.
The Public Library was next considered and it was voted to recommend
the appropriation requested,42700.00 for maintenance and 42250.00 for
salaries. It was voted to recommend raising and appropriation of 421,325.
for the payment of maturing Sewer Bonds,interest on same and the amount
of the estimated Metropolitan Sewer Assessments.
It was voted to recommend 42350.00 for the Park Department. It was
voted to recommend 450,000.00 for Highway Maintenance,44000.00 for
Snow & Ice Removal and 3000.00 for Cleaning Drainage Ditches.
It was voted that 20,000.00 be raised and appropriated for
High Street Drainage;45000.00 to be raised from the tax levy and 415,000.
by bond issue,maturing dates of which not to be named until after
conference with the Treasurer.
The matter of Police and Fire Dept.pay was next discussed and it
was voted that no increase in pay be recommended for the Police Dept.
for 1924. It was voted to recommend 41488.00 for Police Dept.Maintenance.
It was voted to recommend the same salaries for the Fire Dept.as in 1923.
It was voted to recommend 44407.00 for Fire Dept.Maintenance.
It was voted to recommend 500.00 for Fire Alarm Maintenance.
It was voted to recommend $2515.00 for Central Fire Station,Maint-
`'' enance and Repairs.
It was voted to recommend 4500.00 for Forest Fire Warden Expenses. .
The Moth Department budget was next considered but no action was taken,
it being the sense of the meeting that additional information be
presented relative to the cost of truck hire, etc.
