Reading, Mass. , February 6, 1950
The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M.
Chairman Calvin, Messrs. Donahue, Putnam, Walker, Superin-
tendent Welch were present.
Records of the previous meeting were read and approved.
This being 'Boy Scout Week" , the following scouts attended
and participated in the meeting:

Hearing at 7:45 P .M. on the proposed acceptance as a Public
Way, of Parkman Road, from Lowell Street. to Margaret Road.

Voted to recommend to the Town acceptance of Parkman Road,
from Lowell Street to Margaret Road, ass public way.
Hearing at 8:15 P.M. on proposed widening and relocation at
the southeasterly corner of Warren Avenue and Maple Street. No
one present. Mrs . Amelia Leach, owner of the only property affected,
filed a written approval.
Received letter from Chief of the Fire Department, suggesting
1 the installation of a Fire Hydrant on the East side of Main Street,
near the Stoneham Line.
Voted to install hydrant as recuested.

Temporarily adjourned at 8:45 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Reconvened at 9:15 P.M. I
Received petition from certain abutters on Intervale Terrace
requesting that a portion of Intervals Terrace be accepted as a
Public Way.
Voted to prepare plane and hold hearing.
Received letter from Mr. John Harrison tending his resignation
from the Board because he has been forced by circumstances to move
to Melrose. Voted to accept resignation with regrets.
Received letter from Town Counsel stating that the Board is
without authority to abate the sewer frontage assessment, placed
against the property of Mildred Winslow, 109 Mineral Street; but
also stating that the Assessors may, if they wish, suspend payment
of the annual increments. Voted to write Mrs. Winslow, and inform
her of the above-quoted opinion.
Received notice from the State Department of Public Works
that a taking is to be made through the property of Lillias Pierce,
off South Street, in which the Town holds certain rights by deed.
Voted to refer matter to Selectmen.
Received letter from the Town Counsel, stating that it would
be proper for the Department to install a water service at the expense
of the owner, to the property of HaIfyard, off Franklin Street,
providing Halfyard obtains a water easement through the right-of-way
from Manuel and Milner.
Received letter from Harriet Baker, 32 Summer Avenue, reauest-
ing information relative to the drainage investigation near her prop-
erty.
Voted to inform her that the investigation has been partially
completed.

Received a letter from the Selectmen, relative to claim for
damage from blasting, filed by Mrs. Mulley, 91 John Carver Road.
Matter has already been referred to the Town Counsel and the Law
Committee.
Received a letter from the Selectmen, stating that Articles
for Warrant must be filed not later than February 3, 1950.
Adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
