A letter was presented from the Board of Public Works requesting transfers from the Reserve Fund as follows: To the Sidewalk Maintenance & Construction Account $300,00 To the Park Department 200,00 For Care of Town Dump 200.00 The letter explained the reasons for asking for these transfers. The Board of Assessors sent in a request for a transfer of $44.57 to the Assessors' Clerical Account. �.r The Board of Selectmen requested a transfer of $500.00 to the Fire Alarm ,Account made necessary by extraordinary outlay on account of re- moving wires from poles and placing underground on Main Street, north of the Common., The Selectmen also asked for a transfer of $325,00 to pay the pension of 0. 0. Orday, former Chief of the Fire Department until December 31, 1936, It was voted that all requests for transfers from the Reserve Fund be submitted to the Finance Committee. in writing. The Board of Public Works was represented by the CChairman, Mr, Bancroft and Supt, Welch, Mr. Bancroft set forth the needs of the trans. fers ask6dg for as stated in the letter making the requests. Following the conference with Mr. Bancroft the following votes were passed: On motion of Mr. Davis it was voted to transfer from the Reserve Fund $300,00 to Sidewalk hccount; on mention of Mr. C carrell it was voted to transfer $200.00 to Care of John Street Damp; on motion of Mr, Sturges it was voted to transfer $200,00 to Public Parks; on motion of Mr, Folsom it was voted to transfer .,57 to Assessorst Clerical Account; on motion of Mr. Sturges it was voted to transfer $500,00 to Fire Alarm Account;' on motion of Mr. Sturges it was voted to transfer $325.00 for Pension Fund for 0. 0, 0. Ordway, I The Chairman called attention tothe sub-committees appointed fpr 1936-1937 and urged each member to begin the consideration of the depart- mental matters assigned to the Committee of which he is a member, The Chairman spoke regarding conferring with the various boards in advance of the budgets for 1937. It was suggested that the Bhairman of the Finance Committee together with the Thaerman of each sub-committee confer. with the Chairman of the various boards as suggested above. The Chairman called attention to Chapter 318 of the Acta of 1936 entitled "An Act Providing for Contributory Pension System for Cities .and Townes". As the question of the acceptance of this act is to appear on the ballot at the November Election it was deemed the province of ths , Finance Committee to investigate the subject and report to the voters. 11 Was moved by Mr. Davis that a Ovsemittee of three be appointed by the Cham to make a study of the proposed law and report to the Finaned Comittee as early as possible. The meeting was called to order at 8 P.M. by the Chairman. The sub-committee, consisting of Messrs. Sturges, Davis and Goldsmith, appointed to study the advisability of the Finance Committee making a recommendation to the town relative to Con- ° tributory Retirement Act, asked for further time. In the meantime they asked that the Town Accountant furnish them if possible, with the following Information concerning each town employee: 1. Name 2. Date of birth Sea Date of employment (Breaks ) 5. Salary for last five years (excluding extras ) Total payroll for last five years. This information, if passible to work up, should be sent to Louis Davis. It was voted to meet on October 28th, at which time the above sub-committee will submit written report for the board's action. j Ad journedm8.30 P.M. Members present: Chm.
