The meeting was called to order at 8.25, the Chairman having delayed
opening the meeting on account of lack of quorum.
The Board of Public Works was heard on Article 4 of the warrant for a
town meeting August 19th. Mr. Putnam stated that a grant of $29,250.00
from. the Federal Government having been promised, it would be necessary for
the Town to vote to accept such grant. He stated that it would be necess
to obtain new bids for the Aeration and Filteration Plant in view of the
Federal grant and that experience had shown that such bids were usually
higher on account of the restrictions imposed.
The Board requested that the Committee recommend an appropriation of
,65,000 to be raised by an issue of bonds or notes, in addition to the
amount granted by the Federal Government undter the Rmergency Relief Appro-
priation act of 1935. He also stated that it would be necessary to re-
commend that the vote of May 1, 1935 be rescinded. After discussion it
was moved by Mr. Sturges that the Finance Committee recommend the aeceptanc
of the Federal grant of $29,250.00 and that a sum not exceeding *65,000.00
be raised by an issue of bonds or notes tnd that the whole be appropriated
for the purposes set forth in Article 4. This was unanimously voted.
It was voted to recommend rescinding vote referred to in article 3.
The 7 oard of Selectmen appeared and asked for a transfer from the
Reserve ,iund of X950.00 for Miscellaneous Expense Account and >100 for
Election. and Registration Expense Account. 'These transfers were unanimous
voted.
