The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 7.55 of-clock,
The Board of Selectmen, Chairman, Killam, Morton and Leman, were first
heard on Article 2 of the warrant for the special Tpwn Meeting May 1, 1935,
This article. called for authority to borrow under chapter 188 of the Acts
of 1935. The Selectmen recommended borrowing the sum of $32,000 or $33,000
payable in ten years. It was moved by Mr. Knox and seconded by Mr.
Botton that $33,000 be borrowed to be increased by any vote which might
be dater passed, This vote was taken for the reason that Mr. Roberts
was obliged to leave and the remaining members would not constitute a
quorum.
The Board of Public Works appeared, Chairman Putnam, Messrs , Fowls,
Barnes , Bancroft and Crooker. Article 4 was first presented calling for
an appropriation of $4000 from the tax levy to be used with $8000 provided
by State and County for continuation of West lStreet construction of 1934,
Article 5 was next presented calling for an appropriation of $3000
from the tax levy to be used with $6000 provided by State and Ccu my for
the construction of a portion of Lowell Street,
Article 6 was presented by Chairman Putnam and he called upon Mrs.
Vivian M. Smith, President of the Women' s Club to present the need of an
appropriation for playground supplies and supervised play.
Article 3 was discussed at considerable length and the Public Works
Board stressed the need of immediate action on the matter of the installa-
tion of an aetation and filter plant for the water system.
The discussion of these articles was informal and no quorum being
present, no votes were taken.
The meeting adjourned with the recommendation that another meeting
be held on Monday evening, April 29th, 1935.
