Finance Committee Meeting January 30, 1935.
The meeting was called to order at 7.55 o'clock, The records of
the last meeting were read and approved.
Chairman. Connelly of the sub-committee of the Board of Public Works
reported on the result of a conference with that Board regarding its
budget. Regarding the amount on Page 9 of $6,750.00 for new equipment
for the Highway Department,, the Board seemed adverse to putting this
amount into a separate article as 'recommended by the Committee, unless
some guarantee might be furnished that the Finance Committee would approvi
of the expenditure. It was estimated that the Public Works appropriat +
might be reduced to the amount of approximately $7,900.00.
`' The sub-committee on the School Department presented a written
report through Mr. Dickie and later Mr. Devaney, chairman of the committer
presented a complete report on the School budget and it was discussed
item by item. It was voted to lay this report on the table.
The Town Treasurer appeared with the budget for 1935 expenses amount;
to $1000.00 and also presented a request for an appropriation of $900 for
clerical assistance.
The Committee then took up the various budgets in the alphabetical
order in .which they are arranged.
Under "M" Tree Warden, it w4s agreed upon that this budget should
not exceed $1500.00 and that $650.00 be deducted from estimated pay-roll
and $450.00 from cost of trees.
Under "N" Forest Warden, the opinion was unanimous that $700 for a
new pump could be deferred.
Under "0" Soldierst Relief, it was agreed that this appropriation
should be reduced to $12,000.00. 1 .
Under "U" Planning Board Expenses, there was some discussion and
the Clerk was instructed to request the Planning Board to appear before
the Committee on Wednesday evening, February 6th.
Under "V" Public Library, the sub-committee was requested to obtain
from the Library Trustees more detail as to the increase in amounts asked
for.

It was voted to hold a public meeting on Wednesday evening, Februar;

( Mr. Dickie's report on E.R.A. was -readd and it was' voted to lay it of
the table.
The Clerk was instructed to request the Board of Health and the Boai
of Selectmen to appear on Wednesday evening, February 6th.

The sub`-connittee on the Board of Public Works were asked to further
confer with the Board and report at the next meeting.
Adjourned 11.15 P.M.
