The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
li 7:30 P . M.
Chairman Walker, Messrs. Donahue, Johnson, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from Personnel Board stating they are withholding
action on recent requests for individual salary increases pending receipt
of proposed 1954 salary increases.
Instructed Superintendent to prepare a list of proposed 1954
salary increases for consideration of Board.
Instructed Superintendent to confer with Carleton & Gray relative
to fence along Main Street property frontage.
Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposal to change the name of North Street
from Fairmount Road to Bear Hill Road to Kenneth Road.
Following persons present;
Mr. Charles W. Hanson - In favor.
Mrs. Charles Y. (Ingrid M.) Hanson - In favor.
Voted to change the name of the above described section of
North Street to Kenneth Road.
Mr. Walter Earley, 18 Whittier Road conferred with Board request-
Ing an abatement on his Street Betterment Assessment based on fact that
he had a Bituminous concrete sidewalk abutting his property and it was
tierefor not necessary to construct one.
Voted to grant an abatement of $0.75 per linear foot of frontage
on Street Betterment Assessment of Walter Earley of 18 Whittier Road.
Received letter from Municipal Employees Association requesting
a joint meeting with the Board.
Voted to meet with employees on the evening of November 30, 1953

in Room 2 at 8:00 P.M.
Following Granite Curb Application received, approved and placed
on file: quince Lothrop - 6 Harriman Avenue i/
Considered Taking by emiment domain a parcel of land on the
nartherly side of Willow Street for the purpose of building a Sewer
Pumping Station.
Voted: That in pursuance and under authority of Chapter 314
on the Acts of 1909 and vote of the Town at the Special Town Meeting
duly warned and held on October 5, 1953, that there be and hereby is
adopted an Order of Taking of the fee of the following parcel of land
for sewerage and drainage purposes:
The land situated on the Northwesterly side of Willow Street
and estimated to contain 52,853 square feet of land.
The above parcel is, shown as Lots A and B on Plan of Sewage
Pumping Station Site, Town of Reading, Mass., Board of Public Works,
Whitman and Howard, Engineers, dated November, 1953, and to which Plan
and Order of Taking refarence�hereby made for a more particular and
complete description of said parcel taken, and it is further voted that
the Order of Taking be recorded forthwith in the Middlesex South District
Registry of Deeds and that notice be sent to the owner affected thereby
as required by law.

Street, Reading, on Monday, November 23, 1953, at 8:00 otclock
in the evening, all the members of the said Board being present,
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was
VOTED: That in pursuance and under authority of Chapter
314 of the Acts of 1909 and vote of the Town at the Special
Town Meeting duly warned and held on October 5, 1953, that
there be and hereby is adopted an Order of Taking of the fee
of the following parcel of land for sewerage and drainage
purposes :
