The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
L 7:30 P. M.
Chairman Walker, Messrs. Donahue, Johnson, Kilgore, and Super-
intendant Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Voted to abate the sum of $50.00 on the October 1952 water bill
of the B. & M. R. R. enginehouse at Reading Highlands.
Considered letter of November 3, 1953 from Personnel Board
requesting list of salary increases and schedule changes for 1954
before December 1, 1953• -
Voted to request conference with Personnel Board within two weeks
to discuss schedule changes and to submit 1954 Salary Schedule after
conference.
Received from Vincent Bell, 2 Whittier Road a copy of a letter
he sent to the Law Committee claiming damages to ceilings during the
construction of Whittier Road.
Received letter from ben. F. Smith, 112 Walnut Street requeding
permission to connect a drain pipe from his cellar sump pump to the
storm drain in Walnut Street.
Voted to approve request providing connection is equipped with a
check valve and a clean out wye.
Reconsidered road construction betten[rmnt assessment placed
against property of Barbara Zimmer, 1 Whittier Road.
Superintendent reported that he is of the opinion that original
bill was figured incorrectly.
Voted to send corrected bill for road construction assessment
based on report of Superintendent. Net result is a corrected bill
which is $98.67 less than original bill.

Voted to install curbing at 83 Hanscom Avenue in 1954. owner has
filed signed application.
Considered at length proposed new classification schedule .item
by item.
Voted to submit schedule as amended ,to Personnel Board for conf-
erence as noted above.
Superintendent reported that ,bids for Sewer Pumping Station and
Equipment will be taken on Monday Evening, December , 14, 1953 at 8;00 P.M.
Signed final statement of expenditures on 1953 Chapter 90 Maint.
for State Department Public Works.
Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday, IJovember 23, 1953.
Board adjourned at 10;00 P.M.
