® The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
9:30 P. M.
Chairman Walker, Messrs. Johnson, Kilgore, and Superintendent
Welch were present.
Received letter signed by all abuttors on Nichols Road stating
that they are all in favor of the extension of the sewer in Nichols
Road and requesting that they be so recorded.
Voted to reconsider the motion not to extend the sewer made on
Monday, September 28, 1953.
Voted to extend the sewer in Nichols Road as proposed at the
hearing on September 28, 1953.
Voted to request Mrs. Saylor to record the plan showing the
division on her present lot into two lots and to request her to notify
Board when plan is recorded.
Voted that after plan is recorded no assessment for sewer construct-
ion in Nichols Road will be placed on the Summer Avenue lot because the
sewer in Nichols Road will not be low enough to fully service Mrs. Saylor' s
present home.
Voted to approve the employment of Earl Augusta as a rodman at the
salary of 1.15 per hour.
Received letter from Town Counsel stating that it is not proper
for this Department to use Town equipment and materials to fill holes
on private property.
Placed on file pending approval of new Town By-Law by Attorney
General.
Received 'letter from N.B.A. inviting Board to participate in a -

presentation of Municipal Departmental problems ad planning
at a date
to be set later.

Voted to accept invitation and to prepare a paper for presentation.
Voted to approve a gas main location for the Malden and Melrose ..a
Gas Company in West Street on a 410" offset from the easterly sideline J I
from Oak Street to the Woburn Town Line. 1
Voted to hold next meeting of the Board on Tuesday October 13,
1953.
Board Adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
