HomeMy WebLinkAbout1953-07-27 Board of Public Works Minutes 1 July 27, 1953 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Chairman Walker, Messrs. , Hopkins, Johnson, Kilgore, Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Hopkins acted as Secretary. Records of previous two meetings read and approved. Executed four copies of contract awarded to Bagarella Construction Company for construction of sewer to New High School. Considered problem caused by contractors emptying sewerage tanks into manhole on John Street. Voted to restrict dumping during summer months from May 1, to Oct. 1. No dumping allowed Monday through Saturday, except between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. No dumping on Sundays except with special permit from Board of Public Works. Voted to design some kind of dumping facilities as an addition to the New Sewer Pumping Station off Willow Street. Received petition for sewer extension in Nichols Road from present dead end towards Summer Avenue. Placed on file pending preparation of plan and holding hearing. Received petition for sewer extension in West Street from Scotland Road to Howard Street. Placed on file pending preparation of plan and holding hearing Following Granolithic Sidewalk Application received, appro ed, and placed on file. Richard Holmes ------ 118 Vine Street Considered recommendation of Superintendent that Richard Hume be promoted from rodmar_ to transitman.. Present salary $50.80 per , week. Proposed salary $60.00 per week. -2- Voted to approve recommendation of Superintendent and to submit promotion to Personnel Board for approval. Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday August 1.0, 1953. Temporarily adjourned at 9: 00 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9:30 P.M.
