The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ,
7;00 P.M.
Chairman Walker, Messrs, Donahue, Hopkins, Kilgore, Johnson and
Superintendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from William Kohler, 140 Oak Street requesting
permission to connect a drain from his cellar to the public storm drain
in Oak Street.
Referred to Superintendent for his attention.
Considered list of bids received for small track tractors and
backhoe mounted on rubber tired tractor.
Voted,to purchase the following items;
Two- Oliver Model OC3 Sidewalk Tractor - at the net bid '
price of $5,507.60 from the H. F . Davis Co.
One- Oliver 88, Tractor with Ware Hydro-Trencher at the
net price of, $10,553.53.
Discussed possibility of constructing extension to Garage.
Laid on table for next meeting so old plans can be located.
Bids received at 8;00 P.M. for roadway project on Oakland Road
from Ste. 8+50 to 12+50.

Contract awarded to Lawrence Said & Stone Co.
Received letter from James Cannington, 186 South Street requesting
permission to connect a drainfiom his cellar to the public storm drain
in South Street.
Referred to Superintendent for his attention.
Received letter from John Cregorio, 135 Pearl Street, Malden,
requesting permission to construct two driveways across the drain easement
at his property on Main Street, formerly Helricks Body Shop.
Referred to Superintendent for his attention.
Considered two sketches from Whitman & Howard showing two possible
outside treatments for proposed sewer pumping station, one showing over-
hang roof (Sketch"A") and one with no overhang on roof (Sketch"B") .
Voted to approve treatment showing overhanging roof (Sketch' A") .
Received letter from Foreman requesting that maximum classification
' rate for foreman be raised to the level of Senior Draftsman and Land
surveyor.
Voted to defer all proposed changes in salary schedule until
August 15, 1953 or later.
Voted to omit the Board meeting of June 22, 1953.
The following representatives of the Birchall Real Estate Co. ,
conferred with the Board relative to a housing development on the Cheng
property off West Street near Willow Street.

Board invited Planning Board to attend, which they did.
Discussion was general and no agreements were made or decisions
reached.
Board adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
