HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-12-15 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. , December 15: 1952. The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:00 P. M. Messrs. Walker, Donahue, Johnson, Kilgore and Superinten- dent Welch were present. Mr. Walker acted as Chairman. Records of previous meeting were read and approved. Signed 1952 Sidewalk Construction Commitment Sheets, a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records. Signed 1952 Curbing Commitment Sheets, a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of these records. Signed 1952 Sewer House Connection Commitment Sheets, a copy of which is attached hereto and herewith becomes a part of ' these records. Received letter from the Board of Selectmen relative to 1952 Town Report. Following Bit. Conc. Sidewalk Application received, approved and placed on file: i Marie Day - 18 Elm Street. Following Granite Curb Application received, approved and placed on file: Marie Day - 18 Elm Street. Received letter from Weather Services , Inc. tendering agreement to furnish weather reports for 1953 for the sum of $156.00. Voted to authorize Superintendent to enter into an agree- ment with Weather Services, Inc. as outlined above. Received letter from James Halfyard requesting that a right of way off Franklin Street called Franklin Terrace be plowed -2- 12/15/52 during snow storms. 1 Laid on table pending investigation. J Temporarily adjourned at 7:45 P. M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9:15 P. M. Considered and discussed closing entire Department all day Friday, Dec. 26, 1952. Voted to close Department Friday, Dec. 26, 1952, and to authorize Superintendent to keep a skeleton force at Office and Garage if he feels it is necessary. In the event of a snow storm the Department will work a normal day. Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday, Dec. 29, 1952. Considered 1953 Budget in part. Adjourned at 10:30 P. M.
