The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:00 P.M.
Chairman Hopkins, Messrs, Donahue, Kilgore, Walker and
Superintendent Welch were present.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Received letter from Earl Sampson, 10 Orchard Park Drive
requesting an abatement on his November 1952 sewer rental bill as his
house is not fully connected.
Voted not to grant abatement since house should be fully
connected and since bill represents a use tax and amount of use is im-
material.
Received letter from D. F. Frongillo, Sunnyside Road request-
ing an abatement on his January 1952 water bill. j
Voted to abate 05.00
Received petition for sewer extension in Ash Street from
Brook Street about 200 feet northerly.
Placed on file.
Conferred with Mr. Nelson of 52 Porter Street, Melrose about
the cost of a water main extension in Essex Street northerly fpm
Hartshorn Street.
Superintendent instructed to furnish estimate.
Voted to instruct Superintendent to have a picture of John
Harrison suitably touched up, framed and inscribed and hung in the
Office of the Board of Public Works.
Mr. & Mrs. Paul McRae of 116 Green Street, .Melrose conferred
wL th Board about the cost of a water main extension in Intervale Terrace
to Lot#47.

Sperintendent instructed to furnish estimate.

placed on file ;

Voted to hold an informal hearing on the proposed acceptance
of Track Road as a public way to ascertain how many abuttors really
wish' the street accepted.
Temnorarily adjourned at 8 ;30 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Reconvened at 8 :45 P.M.
Discussed departmental methods of constructing cement concrete
sidewalks.
Discussed various problems of a departmental nature at
length.
' Conferred with Finance Committee about Articles for 'Special
Town Meeting of December 1, 1952.
Adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
