HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-10-06 Board of Public Works Minutes ' October 6, 1952 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:00 P. M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Harrison, Kilgore, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. Walker acted as Secretary. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letter from T. J. Thornton, 186 High Street requesting that the sewer in High Street be extended from Dudley Street to Mineral Street. Board will investigate. Following Bitimunious Concrete Sidewalk Applications, 1 received, approved and placed on file; Carolyn Mader --- 10 Gould Street Franklin Davis --- 14 Forest Street • Marjorie Cahill --- 28 Berkeley Street," William Hampton --- 10 Fairmount Road. Following Granite Curbing Applications, received, approved and placed on file; Franklin Davis --- 111 Forest Street / Received letter from Selectmen stating that fuel oil contract for 1952-1953 has been awarded to the Chapin Oil Company. Received letter from Reading Selectmen requesting further information relative to the plans and design for the Haven Street, Parking Area. 1 Instructed Superintendent to write Selectmen stating status of both. Received letter from Selectmen of Stoneham requesting Board to indicate dates on which a meeting to discuss the possibility of _2_ joint incinerators could be called. Agreed to meet in the evening on either Oct. 21, 1952, or , Oct. 23, 1952. Received letter from Herbert Marsh, 41 Barrows Road requesting that a cement m ncrete sidewalk be installed at his property instead of a bituminous concrete sidewalk. Taken under advisement„, Signed Order of Taking for Easement for Drain and Sewer purposes from Summer Avenue to Virginia Road Extension. Temporarily adjourned at .8:30 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey. Reconvened at 9:15 P.M. Discussed at length certain.personnel organizational problems. Voted to hold next meeting of the Board of Public Works , on Monday, Oct. 20,1952. Voted to issue permit for High School Band to hold paraded on Saturday afternoons after football games.
