HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-09-22 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. ,September 22,1952 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at ' 7:00 P, M, Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. ,Harrison, Kilgore, Walker, Donahue and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous meeting read and approved. Received letter from Selectmen of Reading referring to this Board a letter from the Selectmen of Stoneham suggesting a conference relative to the possibility of ajoint incinerator. Voted to write Selectmen of Stoneham that this Board will be pleased to meet with them to discuss their proposal. Received petition from owner of land abutting Milton Road requesting that the sewer be extended in Milton Road. , Voted to place on file pending preparation of plans and availability of funds. Received letter from State Dept. of Public Works stating they have approved work done on 1952 Chap, 90 Contract by A. Simione & Son, Inc. Conferred with several persons living on Bond Street relative to drainage conditions in the rear of their properties on the west and northerly sides of Bond Street. Following persons present. Ruth B. Howarth - 50 Bond Street Althea M. Polhler - 42 It Vido E. Neilson - 38 ^ ^ Maxine Burgess - 29 n n Janet B. Dolben - 30 Dorothy C. Amon - 43 ^ They presented a lengthy petition signed by a large number of citizens many of whom do not live on Bond Street. Board will investigate, -2- Voted to approve recommendation of Superintendent that the salary of Wm. Fennelly be increased to $;1.58 per hr, (Minimum Shovel Operator) subject to approval of Personnel Board, Voted to approve recommendation of Superintendent that the salary of Roger Louanis, a draftsman, be increased to $1,25 per hr. subject to the approval of the Personnel Board, Following Bitimunious Concrete Sidewalk Applications, received, approved and placed on file. i Paul Nichols - 16 Fairmount Road Thomas Galvin - 20 " " Discussed certain personnel problems at length.
