The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened '
at 7:00 P.M.
Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Harrison, Walker, Donahue, Kilgore,
and Assistant Superintendent Putnam were present.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.
Voted that in the future the Board' s decisions on all public
hearings be made known to the persons affected by the hearings, by a
mailed notice.
Signed request to the Finance Committee for transfer of funds '
from the Reserve Fund to the Board of Public Works Pension Account for
the purpose of paying additional pension to added pensioner, John J.
Ferrick. '
Voted to permit Garden Committee of the Reading Womens Club
the use of Reading Common for a Plant Sale on Thursday, Sept. 18, 1952,
and in the event of rain, Friday, Sept. 199 1952.
Received letter ofcommendation from citizen regarding
work performed by Highway Department employees abutting their property.
Voted to post copy of letter on Bulletin Board at Municipal
Gar age.
Adjourned temporarily at 7:30 P.M. to meet as Board of Survey.
Reconvened at 8:30 P.M.
Hearing at 9:30 P.M. on extension of main trunk sanitary sewer
in Lewis Street, from West Street, to County Road. Eighteen abutting
property owners were present and all were recorded in favor of the ,
extension.
Voted to proceed with the sewer extension.
Vacation post card received from Mr. Walker post-marked,

Moxie Cove Camps, Round Pond, Maine,
Rearing at 10:$0 P.M. on petition for pole location of
Municipal Light Dept. on Ash Street, north of Avon Street. Voted Location,
Received request from Malden & Melrose Gas Light Company for
two locations for manholes to contain auxiliary pressure governors.
After some discussion, laid request on table until further information is
available. _
Discussed problems affecting the Department due to new
housing developments.
