Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. -Donahue, Harrison, Kilgore, Walker, and Superintendent Welch were present. Record of previous three meetings read and approved as amended. Considered note from Superintendent relative . to complaints from abuttors on Whittier Road .about open ditch through field beyond end of road. Following Bituminous Concrete Sidewalk Application received, approved, and placed on file. Change entails an extra on contract for added excavation. Voted to lower the grade from Sta. 0+00 to Sta. NOO six inches and parallel to approved grade. Voted to approve an extra for added excavation on Evergreen Road in the amount of $480.00 on the contract of the Lawrence Sand & Stone Co. Voted to abate the sum of $9.15 on the April 1952 Water Bill K of Charles Cacciola, 297 Salem Street. -2- Conferred with Mr. Joshua Day, Jr. , Chairman of the Finance Committee, relative to the possibilities of expanding the Engineering p-rsonnel of the Town. - A lengthy discussion took place which, in effect, can be reduced to two basic approaches as follows: 1. The advisability of establishing an Engineering Department within the Board of Public Works and 2. The advisability` of establishing a separate Town Engineering Department. It was agreed that the Board of Public Works will further consider the matter and prepare estimated costs of each method and report to Mr. Day at a later conference. ' Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday, August 4, 1952. Voted to establish a set price of 5425.00 to extend water main to the new house of Alfred Genest Pinevale Avenue.
