HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-04-28 Board of Public Works Minutes Reading, Mass. April 28,1952 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:00 P.M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Harrison, Kilgore, Walker, and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of three previous meetings read and approved. Received letter from Selectmen requesting that Board of Public Works clean up Parking Area thoroughly now and keep it clean in fuyture. - Voted to clean area now and to notify Selectmen as to cost of this clean up and estimated cost of routine clean up program. Voted to assist Lions Club in " Clean Up Week" which is to be held the last week in May. Considered report of Superintendent relative to tractors with front and buckets on which bids ware received April 21, 1952. Superintendent recommended purchase of Hough Loader. Voted to authorize Superintendent to purchase whichever tractor loader he deems best for the Department. Voted to approve underground conduit location for Municipal Light Department in the easterly sidewalk of Ash Street between Pole 2/20 and Pole 221. This conduit is parallel to and abutting an existing conduit. Considered letters written to Gas. Co, by Superintendent relative to conditions of natural gas pipe trenches. Voted that if trenches are not properly resurfaced within two weeks the matter will be' referred to the Town Counsel. Received letter from St. Agnes C.Y.O . requesting dates for baseball at Washington St. Park. _2_ Voted to authorize Superintendent to iss permits providing requested dates do not interfere with High School Schedule. Considered request of Mr. McLellan of 21$ Pearl Street, that a retaining wall be built in front of his property. Voted to deny the request With regrets. Considered proposed motion for street betterment assessments on corner lots. No action taken as proposed motion is to be redrafted. Board adjourned 9.40 P.M. Respectfully Submitted; Secretary I
