' The regular meetitg of the Board of Public Works
opened at 7:00 P. M.
Chariman Hopkins, Messrs. Harrison, Kilgore, Walker,
Superintendent Welch were present.
Mr. Walker acted as Secretary.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Following Bituminous Concrete Sidewalk application
received and placed on file;
Er. Chang Ping - 127 Hopkins Street
Discussed exiating applications for Granolithic
Sidewalks in relation to Bituminous Concrete.
' Agreed to service all granolithic sidewalk applica-
tions received prior to Nov.1,1951.
Received letter from Francis Foxcroft relative to
sidewalk snow plowing on Minot Street.
Voted to plow sidewalk on one side of Minot Street.
Considered request of Philip Trask, 106 Walnut Street
that he be allowed to connect an open end drain and down spouts
to s torm drain in Street.
Instructed Superintendent to suggest certain changes
to Mr. Trask and if agreed, to issue permit.
Received letter from Richard Moores requesting he be
relieved of the necessity of removing a foundation all from the

drain easement off Lowell Street, South of the Lowell Street School.
Voted that he be required to move North-westerly wall
of all 18 inches in a South-easterly direction so that no part of
the wall and footing will be less than 121nches from the pipe drain.

Considered street betterment assessments on corner lots.
Voted to instruct Superintendent to draw a motion '
embodying a proposed new rule based on certain agreed basic princ%les
and which will be acted upon by the Board at a later date.
Voted to instruct Superintendent to write Representatives
Tanner and White and Senator Evans that the Board is dpposed to the
Bill allowing the M. D. C. to build incinerators for the joint use of
cities and towns.
Received letter from Y. M. C. A. requesting dates for
baseball at Birch Meadow.
Voted to issue permit for dates as requested.
Received petition from several abuttors on Whittier
Road requesting the Board to postpone the construction of Whittier Road.
Voted to instruct Superintendent to list abuttors and ,
their actions at the hearing and as listed in petitions. '
Received petition requesting an extension of the sewer
in Orange Street, between Spring Street and Belmont Street.
Placed on file pending preparation of plan and arrang-
ement for hearing.
Considered at length a list of employees who have since
Jan.419$2, either resigned or indicated their intention to resign
their jobs.
Also discussed the general man power situation and
certain specific employees.
Mr. Hopkins and Mr. Walker agreed to speak with Mr.
Jones the Chairman of the Personnel Board to, if possible, arrange
a joint meeting of the Personnel Board and the Board of Public Works. . ,

Voted to petition the Personnel Board to approve
an increase in salary for John OfConnell from x;1.34 to X1.42 per
hr, mainly as a replacement of John Ferrick who retired as of
March 31,19$2.
