HomeMy WebLinkAbout1952-02-25 Board of Public Works Minutes zo Reading, ,Sass„ February 25, 1952 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7 :00 P. M. Chairman Hopkins, Messrs. Donahue, Harrison, Walker and Superintendent Welch were present. Records of previous two meetings read and approved. Following granite curb applications received, approved and placed on file: / - /eorge Burns _ 89 Washington St. /Frank Zee 9 Orchard Park Drive Received letter from Pittsburgh DesMoines Co. stating that they expect to start erection of the elevated tank in September 1952. Received letter from Philip Broeg, 51 Bond Street, request- ing permission to connect a cellar drain to the public storm drain in Bond Street. Voted to grant permission subject to usual provisions. Voted to reconsider votes of Februar y 18, 1952 in which it was voted to recommend the acceptance of Wadsworth Road, Tennyson Road and Whittier Road as public ways. Considered contents of twenty letters received in opposi- tion to the acceptance of these roads. Voted not to recommend the acceptance of these roads as public ways and to so notify the abuttors and to offer motions to indefinitely postpone at the Town Meeting. Opened postponed hearing at 7:30 P. M. on the proposed relocation oftheeasterly sideline of Pearl Street immediately south of Wakefield Street. Following persons present:- Mr, Frank Baker In favor Mr, Nahshon Gleason- " " Voted to recommend to the Town Meeting the relocation of the above described sideline of Pearl Street. Signed report to the Town Meeting recommending the reloca- tion of the above described sideline of Pearl Street. Signed Plan showing the relocation of the above described sideline. Received copy of petition filed with Selectmen by John Ferrick requesting retirement under the provisions of the Veteran' s Pension Act. Voted to approve the request. Temporarily adjourned at 6 :30 P. M, to meet as Board of Survey, Reconvened at 9:30 P. 11. Voted to hold next meeting of Board on Monday Evening, March 3, 1952. Adjourned at 9:45 P. M.
